Database Mart VPS pricing explained: eight Linux plans, the $5.99 catch, and what you cannot get back

Database Mart's Linux VPS runs from $5.99 for 4 GB to $63.99 for 32 GB. The cheapest plan has a shared IP, payments are non-refundable, the trial is 24 hours.

Database Mart sells some of the cheapest memory we found in our comparison of 15 providers: 4 GB for $5.99 and 8 GB for $12.99 a month. Prices like that usually come with conditions, so we read the plan data, the FAQ and the terms of service line by line. This is what the price list does not say on its face.

The eight Linux plans

"Per GB of RAM" is the one-month price divided by the memory. Bandwidth is listed as unmetered at the port speed shown, and every plan says "No Setup Fee". The Windows plans cost more, from $8.99 for the 4 GB one on a one-month term.

Four of the eight plans cost the same whether you pay for one month or for two years. On those, there is no reason to commit.

The $5.99 plan has a shared IP

The Express plan lists "1 Shared IP". The plan note says a shared IP is the default and that you may upgrade to a dedicated one at additional cost. Every other plan lists "1 Dedicated IP".

What that means in practice is spelled out in Database Mart's own FAQ, in the answer about the Express Windows plan: a shared-IP VPS suits browsing, office software and remote work, and "cannot reliably host publicly accessible services". Websites, databases, game servers and APIs need a dedicated IP.

So if the plan is for a website, Coolify, n8n or anything else that answers on ports 80 and 443, the real entry price is one of these:

  • Express Plus, $9.99 a month: 6 GB, 3 vCPU, dedicated IP included.
  • Express plus the IP add-on: the add-on table lists "Additional Dedicated IP" at $2.00 a month, with the note "Max 2 per plan, purpose required". If that is what the Express upgrade costs, 4 GB with its own address is $7.99. Confirm it with their sales team before ordering; the plan note itself does not state the price.

The $5.99 plan is still a fair price for a build machine, a private test box or a remote desktop. It is not a web server.

What the 24-month price really means

The lower price in the last column is not a monthly payment. The billing FAQ says the 24-month price "requires payment for the full 24-month term in advance".

PlanOne month at a time, over 24 months24 months paid upfrontSaved
Express Plus$239.76$191.76$48.00
Basic Plus$407.76$311.76$96.00
Professional Plus$863.76$671.76$192.00
Advanced$1,055.76$767.76$288.00

On renewals, the FAQ says the price normally stays the same as the discounted price of your billing cycle, unless the first term included a one-time promotional discount, in which case it renews at the regular price.

Refunds: read this before you pay

The terms of service say that once a service is purchased and paid, "fees are generally non-refundable". Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period. Being unhappy with the server, or finding that your software does not run on it, does not by itself qualify. A refund or credit may be given for a significant service problem, at their discretion.

That makes the two-year prepayment a real commitment: $191.76 to $767.76 that does not come back if you change your mind in month three. On a provider you have not used before, start with one month.

Two more billing details from the FAQ:

  • Stopping payment does not cancel. Submit a cancellation request in the client area at least 2 days before the next billing date.
  • Renewal invoices are created 5 days before expiry.

The free trial is how you check

Database Mart offers new clients a 24-hour free trial with no payment, and its terms point to the trial as the way to evaluate a server before buying. Given the refund rules, use it. We wrote up how to request the trial and what to test in 24 hours.

What you get, and what you do not

What the pages say
VirtualisationKVM for Linux plans, Hyper-V for Windows
LocationsDallas, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. No data centre outside the United States
Network100 Mbps on the two smallest plans, up to 500 Mbps on the largest; 1 Gbps is a paid upgrade and "not a guaranteed sustained transfer speed"
BackupsOnce every 4 weeks on the smaller plans, every 2 weeks from Professional
Operating systemsUbuntu, CentOS, Debian and more; no custom ISO on a VPS
IPv6Available on request on dedicated-IP plans
SupportTicket and live chat, 24/7. No phone support

A backup every four weeks is not a backup plan. Bring your own; the n8n review shows what that looks like on a small server.

The one thing we measured: latency from Europe

Database Mart publishes a test address for each data centre. We pinged both from our server in Frankfurt on 2 Oct 2026 at 13:02 UTC, ten packets each.

Data centreAverageFastestSlowestLost
Dallas, Texas125.3 ms124.8 ms126.4 ms0 of 10
Kansas City, Missouri126.0 ms108.0 ms271.8 ms0 of 10

About 125 ms is normal for Frankfurt to the central United States. It is fine for a site whose visitors are in North America and noticeable for an interactive dashboard used from Europe or Asia. If your users are not in the US, that matters more than a dollar a month.

Against the server we run

Our own tests run on a DigitalOcean droplet: $6 for 1 GB, and $24 for 4 GB with 2 vCPUs. Database Mart's 6 GB plan with a dedicated IP is $9.99.

That is a large gap, and price is the only thing we can compare today. DigitalOcean bills by the second, so a two-hour experiment costs cents, and it has data centres on several continents. Database Mart bills by the month, does not refund, and is in two US cities. We have not measured Database Mart's CPU or disk speed, so we cannot say what the cheaper memory is attached to. That is what the trial is for.

Which plan for what

  1. A website, Coolify or n8n for a small team: Express Plus at $9.99. Coolify's documentation asks for 2 GB (our 1 GB test shows what happens with less), so 6 GB leaves room for real apps.
  2. Several apps and a database: Basic at $12.99: 8 GB, 4 vCPUs, and the same price on a one-month term.
  3. A private build or test machine: Express at $5.99, shared IP and all.

Ready to look? The plans are on Database Mart's VPS page. Take the trial first.

What we have not tested

Everything except the latency. No install, no benchmark, no support ticket, no uptime record. We plan to take the trial ourselves; when a server has run our usual install, the numbers will be published as a hands-on review and linked from here.

FAQ

How much does a Database Mart VPS cost?

On 2 Oct 2026 the Linux plans ran from $5.99 a month for 4 GB of RAM to $63.99 for 32 GB, on a one-month term. The first plan with a dedicated IP address is Express Plus at $9.99 a month, or $7.99 a month if 24 months are paid upfront.

Can I host a website on the $5.99 Database Mart VPS?

Not as sold. The Express plan comes with a shared IP, and Database Mart's FAQ says a shared-IP VPS cannot reliably host publicly accessible services. You need a dedicated IP: the Express Plus plan includes one, and an IP add-on is listed at $2.00 a month.

Does Database Mart give refunds?

Its terms say fees are generally non-refundable once a service is paid, and cancelling does not refund the current billing period. A refund or credit may be issued for a significant service issue. The 24-hour free trial is the way to test before paying.

Where are Database Mart's servers?

In two data centres in the United States: Dallas, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. From our server in Frankfurt we measured about 125 ms to each.

Is the 24-month price charged monthly?

No. The 24-month price requires paying the whole term in advance. Express Plus is $191.76 for two years instead of $239.76 paid month by month.
