Hetzner and netcup are both German, both run data centers in Nuremberg, and both are in the Few Servers provider directory. This page puts their listings side by side. Every row comes from the provider's own site: netcup's pages were read on 12 Oct 2026, Hetzner's on 20 Oct 2026, with the sources linked below. It is a comparison of what they publish, not a rating: we have not run the same test on both.

Where the two differ most
Price terms and VAT. Hetzner's prices come from its own price data file, which does not state whether VAT is included. netcup's prices are shown including 19% German VAT by default, and its entry VPS is a 12-month contract period. A business outside Germany may see a different netcup price without VAT, and Hetzner's figure may rise with VAT added, so compare both on the same tax basis and contract length.
Locations. Both have Nuremberg, a US East Coast site in Virginia and Singapore. Hetzner adds Falkenstein, Helsinki and Hillsboro on the US West Coast. netcup adds Vienna and Amsterdam.
Range of products. Hetzner adds colocation (rack space) and a priced dedicated line. netcup lists ARM64 VPS and vGPU servers with a price, though the vGPU card we recorded was sold out.
Support. Hetzner's dedicated server page promises support "around the clock via telephone and email". netcup states weekday hours for email and phone, and adds tickets and a chatbot.
Payment. The same four methods on both: card, PayPal, bank transfer and SEPA direct debit.
How to choose between them
- Want the lowest entry price we recorded and can commit to 12 months: netcup's VPS pico (2.21 EUR/month incl. VAT).
- Need a server on the US West Coast or in Finland: Hetzner lists Hillsboro and Helsinki; netcup does not.
- Need a server in Austria or the Netherlands: netcup lists Vienna and Amsterdam; Hetzner does not.
- Want your own rack, or a dedicated server with a listed starting price: Hetzner lists both.
- Want phone support outside weekday office hours: Hetzner states round-the-clock phone and email.

Is netcup cheaper than Hetzner?
On the entry prices we recorded, netcup's VPS pico G11.5s (2.21 EUR/month incl. VAT) was below Hetzner's CX23 (5.99 EUR/month), but netcup's price is for a 12-month contract period and the two plans are different sizes. Compare the same memory, CPU, tax basis and contract length.
Does netcup have data centers outside Germany?
Yes. Its data center page, read 12 Oct 2026, names Vienna (Austria), Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Manassas (Virginia, USA) and Singapore, besides Nuremberg.
Does Hetzner have data centers in the US?
Yes. Hetzner's cloud page names Hillsboro, Oregon and Ashburn, Virginia.
Which one offers ARM servers?
netcup lists vServer (ARM64) among its server types. ARM is not among the Hetzner facts in our listing.
