Every row comes from the provider's own site: Contabo's pages were read on 19 Oct 2026, Hetzner's on 12 Oct 2026, with the sources linked below. It is a comparison of what they publish, not a rating: we have not run the same test on both.

Where the two differ most
Price terms. Hetzner's prices come from its price data file as plain monthly prices. Contabo's entry prices are offers tied to a term: the Cloud VPS price is "for a 24-month term", the dedicated and GPU prices are "for the first 12 months" and "for the first 24 months", each next to a higher struck-through price. Check what the plan costs after the offer period, and whether a shorter term changes the monthly price, before comparing.
Locations. Contabo lists more countries: Japan (Tokyo), Australia (Sydney), the UK (Portsmouth) and India, plus three US cities. Hetzner's cloud page names two US locations and Singapore besides its own parks in Germany and Finland. For users in Asia-Pacific outside Singapore, only Contabo lists a data center.
Range of products. Hetzner adds managed servers and colocation (rack space) to its VPS, dedicated and GPU lines. Contabo's listing stops at VPS, bare metal and GPU.
Support. Contabo lists live chat besides email and phone, with phone hours stated (8 am to 11 pm German time, every day of the year). Hetzner's dedicated server page promises support "around the clock via telephone and email".
Payment. Both take cards, PayPal and bank transfer. Contabo adds Skrill. Hetzner lists SEPA direct debit; Contabo lists direct debit for qualifying customers.
How to choose between them
- Need a data center in Japan, Australia, the UK or India: Contabo lists one, Hetzner does not.
- Want plain monthly prices without a 12- or 24-month offer term: Hetzner's price file lists monthly prices.
- Want managed servers or your own rack with the same provider: Hetzner lists both.
- Want live chat or Skrill: Contabo lists them.
- Want a single dedicated GPU (RTX PRO 6000) as a VPS: Contabo lists it with a price.

Is Contabo cheaper than Hetzner?
On the entry prices we recorded, Contabo's Cloud VPS 4 (4.40 EUR/month) was below Hetzner's CX23 (5.99 EUR/month), but Contabo's price is for a 24-month term and the two plans are different sizes. Compare the same memory, CPU and contract length.
Does Contabo have data centers outside Germany?
Yes. Its locations page, read 19 Oct 2026, lists New York, Seattle, St. Louis, Portsmouth, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney, and India, besides five data centers in Germany.
Does Hetzner have data centers in the US?
